Classroom Safari offers uniquely personal, entertaining, and informative presentations on the wonders of the animal kingdom. Each program includes live, rare and unusual animals from around the world. Programs can be tailored to specific geographic areas or themes. They are geared to a wide range of age groups, from preschool to college age students.

The presentations are approximately one hour in length and are appropriate for a home party or school environment, including classroom or school assembly. Below is a list of the various programs that we offer.

BIRTHDAY SAFARI

Tired of the same old birthday stuff? Have a really wild birthday with a Birthday Safari. See exciting animals from around the world right in your own living room or backyard. We    arrive in safari attire with animals such as a large snake, an alligator, a hedgehog, a fennec fox, an  African serval cat to name a few. We introduce each animal one at a time and tell interesting   facts about each one. The person celebrating their birthday may hold the snake "if they dare" and choose a gift at the end of the presentation. Safari parties last approximately 1 hour and can be tailored to a specific theme. i.e  Reptiles, Dinosaurs, Croc Hunter, etc.

CLASSROOM SAFARI

Enjoy both an entertaining and an educational one hour adventure into the animal kingdom. We will bring our animal ambassadors who will help you understand their natural world. We will tell you interesting facts about their diets, enemies, and special adaptations that help them survive and thrive.

GEOGRAPHIC SAFARI

  • Teachers, are you having trouble getting kids excited about geography. Have you ever heard of New Caledonia? By the time we finish with your students, they will know where it is and they will know all about a species of gecko that was thought to be extinct. We have skinks from the Solomon Islands, tortoises from Russia, dragons and a marsupial from Australia as well as many animals from Africa and South America.
  •

REPTILE SAFARI

Come close to some of the most fascinating and feared creatures in the animal kingdom. Reptiles and amphibians come to you straight from the deserts, bogs and forest of our planet. Touch a tortoise, s-s-snuggle a s-s-snake, giggle at a gecko and have a late lunch with a lizard. Great slimy, scaly fun.

SKULLS & SKELETONS

Whose skull is this? What bone is that? See and touch bones from many different species. Some of the bones we will bring are a camel skull, warthog skull, various reptile bones, ostrich, birds, bison and more. We will compare an alligator skull to a crocodile skull, a real giraffe neck bone to a plastic human neck bone model. Play our "Deer in a Bucket" game and reconstruct a deer skeleton. Who knew "BONES" could be  so much fun.

DINO SAFARI

See and feel real 65 million year old dinosaur bones and meet some of the living links to the "Age of the Dinosaurs" such as an alligator, tortoise, and scorpion.  Discover the wonders of Coprolite! We also have life sized replicas of dinosaur eggs, Utahraptor foot, Allosaurus hand with claws, a large segment of a Tyrannosaurus Rex skull, a Pleistocene Alligator skull and much more.

SENSORY SAFARI

A total hands-on Safari adventure for participants with little or no vision.
Special programs also available for special education classes or groups with learning disabilities.

VANISHING HABITATS

Learn what is happening to the land where the animals live and why places, not just animals, can become endangered, too.

MOON LIGHT SAFARI

Enter the nocturnal realm of creatures of the night. Learn how they live under the cover of darkness.

JUNGLETOUCH

A safari experience designed for children up to 5 years old with a focus of hands on. Children may experience small animals such as a Chinchilla, Rabbit, Tortoise, a baby alligator, Savannah Cat, little Lizards and small slithery SSSSSnakes.

ARACHNOMANIA SAFARI

Itsy-bitsy spiders and more. Do you love spiders or just love to hate them? Spiders have been the object of both terror and fascination for centuries. Find out why they are some of the most interesting creatures on earth.

TWO CHICKS WITH SNAKE STICKS

Living with with rattlesnakes in Sonoma County.

Warm weather brings people out of their homes and snakes out of their dens, leading to close encounters of the s-s-slithering kind. Snakes don’t have anyone to call when you end up on their doorstep but you will have someone to call when they end up on yours. California has many types of snakes, most of which are harmless with the exception the northern pacific rattlesnake, Northern California’s only venomous snake.

We offer a class in local snake identification and what to do if you encounter a rattlesnake. You will learn how to tell the difference between a gopher snake and a rattlesnake. We will also teach you how to safely contain a rattlesnake for the safety of all involved including the rattlesnake. We will give you contact information for either TWO CHICKS or Reptile Rescue to come and pick them up. We will have available safe capture equipment for purchase if you so desire.

This class is appropriate for individuals, home owner associations, wineries, park employees, field workers, scout leaders, campers, hikers and hunters, and anyone dealing with rural outdoors.

This class is geared primarily for adults.

Hints for a successful Party

1.  The best time to start the animal presentation is 30 minutes after your party starts. This gives your guests time to arrive.

2.  A parking space close to your home is necessary. If possible, in the summer, a spot in the shade would be great.

3.  Food should be withheld from the children until the animals have left the party area.

4.  If you have a “Party Jump” near the animal presentation area, it should be deflated during the program.

5.  For the safety of both the children and the animals, please help with the supervision of the children.

6.  When parents attend the party with their children, we love to have them join in, but for those parents who choose not to participate we ask that you provide an area separate from the animals so that they can socialize where it will not disrupt the program.

7.  During the summer if the program is outside we must have enough shade for children and the animals.
